How Do I Get a Quote for Boat Repair Work?
There are three ways to get a quote from us: call 0475 790 642 during workshop hours, send a message through the form above, or bring the boat to the Braeside workshop in person. For small cosmetic jobs — a chipped gelcoat, a cracked hatch seal, a faded hull that needs polishing — a short description and a couple of photos is usually enough to give you a ballpark. For structural work like transom repairs, stringer repairs, or floor replacement, we prefer to inspect the boat in person before quoting so the numbers we give you are firm, not guesswork. A quick in-person walk-through typically takes 20–30 minutes.
Where Is the Boat Repairs Melbourne Workshop Located?
Our workshop is inside JV Marine World at 878 Springvale Road, Braeside VIC 3195 — about 20 minutes from Melbourne's CBD, just off EastLink. The site has plenty of room to manoeuvre a trailered boat, the yard is fully sealed, and there's space to set vessels down for inspection without shuffling them onto a public street. We're positioned centrally for customers across Melbourne's south-east and the Port Phillip Bay corridor: Mordialloc, Cheltenham, Chelsea, Carrum, Seaford, Frankston, Mornington, Dandenong, and Cranbourne are all within a 15–25 minute drive. Most customers trailer their boats to us directly rather than using transport.
What Should I Bring When I Drop My Boat Off?
Bring the boat on its trailer, keys if there are any (ignition, hatches, cabin), and whatever history you have on the vessel. The more we know, the better we can quote. Useful things to hand over:
- Previous repair records — anything that tells us what has already been touched and by whom
- Insurance paperwork — if the job is a claim, bring the claim number and the assessor's notes if you have them
- Photos of anything that has changed recently — new cracks, damp spots, soft floor sections, colour fade
- Any parts you've sourced yourself — if you want us to fit your own fittings, bring them along and we'll factor them into the quote
Harry, our lead boat builder with 20 years of experience, will walk through the vessel with you, explain what he sees, and quote the work before anything starts. There is no charge for the initial assessment on straightforward jobs.
How Quickly Will I Get a Reply?
Phone calls during business hours are answered immediately in most cases — if the workshop is busy and the call rolls to voicemail, leave your name and number and we'll call you back the same day. Website enquiries are typically replied to within one business day; messages sent during workshop hours (Mon–Fri 9am–4pm, Sat 9am–1pm) are often answered the same day. If your enquiry is urgent — insurance claim, boat taking water, pre-sale inspection with a deadline — mention that in the message and we'll prioritise it.
Do You Handle Insurance Claim Repairs?
Yes. We regularly handle insurance repairs for fibreglass damage — impact damage from collisions or docking, storm damage, trailer incidents, and similar claims. We do not lodge the claim on your behalf (that's between you and your insurer), but once you provide us with your claim number and the name of your assessor, we take it from there and liaise directly with the insurer through the repair process. That keeps you out of the middle and means the paperwork side of the job gets handled by someone who speaks the language.
